What is Maverick?
Maverick is Cedar Point’s newest roller coaster! Traveling over 4,450 feet of steel tubular track, riders will feel the excitement as their train ascends up a 105-foot lift hill, propelled by linear synchronous motors. From the top, the train will drop 100 feet at an astonishing 95-degree angle! Throughout the experience, riders on Maverick will be treated to low-to-the-ground maneuvers, three inversions and a second launch that will send each train through a dark tunnel at speeds of 70 mph!
When Will Maverick Open?
Maverick will officially open to the public in May of 2007.
Will I Be Able To Ride?
All riders on Maverick must be at least 52” tall to ride.
Is Maverick A World Record-Breaker?
Maverick itself will not break any world records. However, the focus of building Maverick was to create an all-around fun roller coaster. While all of Cedar Point’s rides deliver a different experience, Maverick will deliver one of the steepest drops on a roller coaster, fast-paced turns, eight “airtime” hills (where riders experience weightlessness), low-to-the-ground action and an exciting second launch.
How Many Roller Coasters Does Cedar Point Have?
Cedar Point is home of the world’s largest collection of thrill rides and roller coasters. With the addition of Maverick, Cedar Point will have 17 roller coasters – more than any other amusement park on Earth!
How Long Has Cedar Point Been Working On Maverick?
Immediately following the opening of Top Thrill Dragster in 2003, it was decided that Cedar Point would build a roller coaster for the 2007 season. At that time, it was not clear as to what type of roller coaster it would be. The final design, timeline and construction schedule were all approved in July of 2005. Steel erection will be completed by December 2006.
